Former GAO analyst Carlo Salerno brings decades of experience in higher education finance to leading student financial services platform
Phoenix, AZ, September 6, 2018—CampusLogic announced today the appointment of Carlo Salerno, Ph.D., as Vice President of Research. In this new role for CampusLogic, Salerno will lead efforts to capture and disseminate insights from the company’s student financial services platform, now utilized by nearly 500 institutions to increase enrollment and retention by improving the financial aid experience.
“CampusLogic’s work on-the-ground with institutions gives them a truly unique perspective on the pathways that students and families take through the process of financing higher education,” said Salerno. “They understand the challenges and opportunities faced by financial aid staff, and are in a unique position to develop tools—and share insights—with the potential to transform both practice and policy.”
As Vice President of Research, Salerno will analyze CampusLogic’s data, looking beyond the numbers to identify trends that enrollment and financial aid professionals can learn from and use to inform their practices. The company’s investment in the development and dissemination of research reflects its commitment to increasing accessibility, reducing student borrowing, and driving college completion.
“Carlo understands that behind the data are human stories of not just students and families, but financial aid staff working to help them understand how much college costs, and how they can pay for it,” said CEO and Founder Gregg Scoresby. “His passion and longstanding commitment to addressing issues of access and equity in higher education is tightly coupled with our work and mission.”
A frequent commentator and writer on higher education financial policy and practice, Salerno is a regular contributor to U.S. News and World Report and Forbes, and has authored numerous white papers on college affordability. He served as a Senior Analyst at GAO from 2006-2008. Most recently, Salerno served as Vice President of Analytics for national nonprofit, Strada Education Network.
